Dr Caroline Wallbutton BDS Sheff Eng, 1985, GDC60711


Caroline qualified from Sheffield in 1985.  She returned to Lincolnshire, joining the Maltings Dental Practice in 1988 having previously worked at Sheffield Dental Hospital and the Oral and Maxillofacial Department of Portsmouth Queen Alexandra Hospital.

She enjoys providing general dentistry.

Dr Kathryn Eastwood BDS Manc Eng, 1989, GDC64849


Kath graduated from Manchester in 1989 and has worked with the practice since 1992 becoming a partner in 1998.

Clinically she provides all aspects of general practice and has a special interest in Aesthetic dentistry. She has a certificate in Clinical Education.

Aside from her clinical role, she has been involved in dental foundation training since 2005 and now carries out the role of Associate Postgraduate Dean within dental foundation training for Health Education England working across the East Midlands. This role involves teaching, mentoring, assessing and appointing both Foundation dentists and their Educational Supervisors external to the practice. Within the practice we aim to provide teaching and professional development to all members of our team encouraging collegues to embrace lifelong learning. Carrying out other practice inspections ensures we maintain and continually improve our own practices high standards.

In her spare time Kath plays the Violin and enjoys swimming, running, yoga and cycling.


Dr Jason Wong BDS Birm Eng, 1995, DPDS Bristol Eng, 2011, GDC70920


Jason Wong qualified from University of Birmingham in 1995. He joined the practice soon after and became a partner at the practice in 1998.

Jason was awarded a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies by Bristol University in 2011 and a Certificate in Clinical Education with merit in 2012.

Jason carries out treatment in all areas of General Dentistry and has 2 main areas of clinical special interests; Dental Implantology and the treatment of nervous patients.

He has been involved with Implant Dentistry since 2000 initially restoring them, then carrying out the surgery. He is a member of the association of Dental implantology (UK) and also the International team for Implantology (ITI) and runs an ITI study club for Dentists on Implantology.

Jason is a member of the society for the Advancement of anaesthesia in Dentistry and also the British Society of Medical and Dental hypnosis and is experienced in devising treatment options for anxious and phobic patients.

Jason is involved in Postgraduate Dental Education and lectures nationally on Oral surgery, minimal invasive Dentistry, Implant Dentistry and treatment of anxious patients. Jason is also a Director of Perspective Dental Education limited.

Jason is also active in other areas of Dentistry and spends part of his week as the Dental Local professional network chair for NHS England covering Leicestershire and Lincolnshire since 2013 and Hertfordshire and South Midlands since 2016. Jason spends some of his time as the honorary Secretary of the Lincolnshire Local Dental Committee and is also pass chair of the Kesteven and Holland section of the British Dental Association and the Lincolnshire Oral Health Advisory Group. Jason is also currently the Vice chair of the Healthy Teeth Happy Smiles Oral health promotion partnership board.

Jason has 2 children and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family.


Dr Fawad Ashraf BDS Manc Eng, 2005, GDC85289


Fawad graduated from the University of Manchester in 2005 and came to work at the Maltings soon after.

Along with the provision of high quality routine dentistry, Fawad has developed a keen interest and passion in cosmetic dentistry. He has achieved certification and introduced a number of the latest teeth straightening systems (orthodontics) including, Invisalign, Six Months Smiles and the Inman Aligner in to the practice. Having straighter teeth allows patients the opportunity to significantly improve their smiles without the need for significant tooth preparation enabling us to improve smiles in a conservative manner.

Outside of dentistry Fawad enjoys travelling, cycling, and spending time with his family. Fawad is happily married and is blessed with 3 lovely children.



Dr Peter Butcher BChD Leeds, Eng 2001, PGDip (Endo) Chester 2016, MFGDP(UK), GDC79283


Peter was born and raised in the Grantham area.  He qualified at the University of Leeds in 2001 and joined the Maltings Dental Practice in 2006, becoming a Partner in 2011.

Peter enjoys providing all aspects of general dentistry for his patients.  He has a special interest in root canal treatment (endodontics) and has completed a postgraduate diploma in this subject.  This enables him to complete complex cases referred to him from colleagues within the Maltings Dental Practice and practices in the surrounding towns and cities.

Peter has additionally received training enabling him to treat patients whose dentists are unable to diagnose the source of their pain and also to treat patients who require restoration of their dental implants.  In addition to traditional dental procedures, Peter also undertakes Facial Aesthetics including the application of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

Peter is a member of the British Dental Association, the British Endodontic Society, the American Association of Endodontists and the Facility of General Dental Practitioners.

Peter has been approved by the Health Education East Midlands to be an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dental Training.  Peter is also the secretary of the Kesteven and Holland BDA section.  Both of these roles allow him to facilitate the education and development of local dental practitioners. He is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.

He spends the majority of his free time taking his children to football training and gymnastics.

Dr Amanda Bassford BDS Birm Eng, 1995, GDC70879


Mandy was born in Grantham and returned to the area after qualifying from Birmingham Dental School in 1995 with clinical distinction. After working for several years in the area Mandy joined The Maltings Dental Practice in 2001.  Mandy spent several years as a part time clinical assistant in Oral Surgery at Grantham Hospital. Currently Mandy enjoys providing high quality dental care. Mandy is married and has two children and enjoys spending time with her family.


Dr Helen Sloss BDS Birm Eng, 1985. MFDS.RCS.Eng 2004, GDC60606


Helen qualified from Birmingham University in December 1985.  She moved to St Catherines Dental Practice in 1992 and became a partner in 2001.  In 2010 she completed the Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons and is now recognised as a Dentist with a Special Interest in Orthodontics.  Helen provides general dental treatment and orthodontics on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at St Catherines Dental Practice.  She also works one day a week at the local Specialist Orthodontic department at Grantham Hospital, and one day a week providing orthodontic treatment at The Maltings Dental Practice.

Dr Claire Simpson BChd Leeds Eng, 2010, GDC192532


Claire is originally from Grantham, she moved to Leeds to study Dentistry, graduating in 2010 with a distinction.  She worked in the Bradford area after graduating and has since moved back the Grantham at which time she joined us at the Maltings.

Claire is interested in restorative dentistry and keen to promote good oral health in all her patients.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and caring for her dog.

Michael qualified from Liverpool in 2010. He worked in York after qualifying, before moving back to the area where he works between Grantham and Southwell. Michael is interested in Restorative dentistry with a particular interest in endodontics. He believes in providing excellent dental treatment in a relaxed environment.  He has also achieved certification in the six month smile orthodontic system.

Away from dentistry Michael enjoys trying to keep fit, spending time outdoors, cooking and looking after his chickens.

Sean studied at Kings College London and worked in Guys, St Thomas' and Denmark Hill Hospital. He completed his dental foundation year at the Maltings Dental Practice in 2013 with Dr Wong as his trainer.

Sean has a passion for high end dentistry and providing high quality friendly care for his patients. He has a special interest in aesthetic dentistry involving; white fillings, tooth whitening and orthodontics (having completed the cfast orthodontics course).

Outside of Dentistry Sean enjoys going for long walks with his two dogs.

Mr Fawad Amin BDS Bristol 2011, , MJDF RCS ENG 2013, GDC 220240


Fawad qualified from Bristol Dental School in 2011 and since qualifying has worked in various dental roles throughout his career so far.


After completing his foundation training in the Oxford deanery, Fawad undertook additional training working as a senior house officer in oral surgery and in restorative dentistry in Guildford and Bristol. He has worked in general practice alongside these jobs and he joined the team at Maltings in January 2017.

He believes in providing high quality evidence based patient care and has a particular interest in endodontics for which he is currently studying a masters degree in.


Outside of dentistry, Fawad is a keen cricketer and enjoys short distance running as well as generally keeping fit.


Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine

Mrs Marta Bugowska-Clarke, Specialist in Oral Surgery, Lek Stom, Warsaw 2001, GDC101044


Marta qualified from Medical University of Warsaw in Poland in 2001. Following qualification she worked in Oral Surgery Department at a very busy multi-disciplinary Specialist Referral Centre in Warsaw. She became interested in Oral Surgery and undertook a number of postgraduate courses including: Implantology, Management of temporo-mandibular joint disorders and oro-facial trauma.

Marta has successfully completed a five-year specialist training programme and has been awarded a title of the Specialist in Oral Surgery( Poland, 2008). In 2010 she became a General Dental Council Registered Specialist in Oral Surgery.

Since July 2009, she has been working as a Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham providing surgical treatment under local and general anaesthesia. She joined The Maltings Dental Practice team in July 2010 providing Minor Oral Surgery sessions- surgical procedures under local anaesthetic.

Dedicated to quality of patients’ care, she spends many hours ensuring that she is up to date with the latest evidence base available.

Outside of work she enjoys a variety of sports and spending time with her young family.


Mr Anas Nashawi, DDS MSC ( Manc) Eng, MFDSRECEd, GDC104033


Anas qualified as a dentist from the University of Aleppo in Syria in 1999, he was successfully awarded a Masters degree in Oral Surgery in 2002 from the University of Manchester. Following that, he continued his training in Oral &Maxillofacial Surgery through working in various NHS hospitals across the UK, receiving a wide range of experience from working with several Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants. In 2005 he successfully passed the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh exams and was elected as a member of the College in 2006 and was appointed as Specialty Dentist at North Lincolnshire NHS Trust. Anas joined Oasis Dental Care in 2007 as a part time General Dental Practitioner and following the creation of Lincolnshire Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery Service in 2008 he became involved in delivering this service from three locations in Lincolnshire; Central Lincoln, Skegness and Boston.

Anas Joined the team at the Maltings Dental Practice in 2009 to deliver a Minor Oral Surgery service from Grantham.

Mr Abdurahman El-Awa BDS (Hons), MFDS RCS Edinburgh, MSurgDent RCS England. CCST Oral Surg (Sheffield), FDS OS RCS Edinburgh.  Consultant in Oral Surgery.  GDC 170060


Abs is a Consultant in Oral surgery; he has extensive experience in all aspects of Oral Surgery, Dental Implants, and Bone Grafting procedures. He qualified in 2003 from Cairo in Egypt and moved to the UK in 2006 aspiring higher training. Since then he trained at Glasgow Dental School and Southern General Hospital, Sheffield Dental School and Royal Derby hospitals gaining experience and training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Abs has completed a specialist-training programme in Oral Surgery at Sheffield; one of Europe’s most reputable Oral Surgery centres. He is also a member of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England. Abs also worked as a Consultant in Oral Surgery at Manchester University Hospitals and is currently a Consultant in Oral Surgery at Sheffield School of Clinical Dentistry.

Specialist in Orthodontics

Miss Cheryl Tracey BDS Birm 1977, D Orth RCS Eng 1982, Msc Lond 1982, FDSRCS Eng 1983, M Orth RCS Eng 1989 Specialist in Orthodontics. GDC 51461


Cheryl is an honours graduate from the University of Birmingham and began her post-graduate training in oral surgery at the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire Hospitals before moving back to the Birmingham Dental Hospital as a lecturer in oral surgery to the dental undergraduates. She began her orthodontic training at the Royal Dental Hospital, Leicester Square and Kingston Hospital, Surrey where she was awarded the Walther Prize in Orthodontics, She continued her advanced specialist orthodontic training at The Royal London Hospital and later Guy's and St.Thomas' Hospital where she accredited as a consultant. Cheryl holds a Master of Science degree in orthodontics as well as gaining both her Membership in Orthodontics and Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, London.

The following sixteen years she was a partner in a German orthodontic practice and passed the German state examination in orthodontics from the University of Münster. In 2004 she returned to Rutland along with her family.

Cheryl is presently a Consultant in Orthodontics at the Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.  Cheryl also carries out sessions at the Maltings providing private orthodontics.



Mrs Kelly Chambers CEB Dip Dip H Birm Eng, 2002,GDC6097


Kelly first joined the team at the Maltings Dental Practice in 1998. She worked for two years as a dental nurse and gained her National dental nursing qualification in 2000.

Kelly then went on to study at Birmingham Dental Hospital and graduated in 2002 with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene. During her time at Birmingham Kelly was fortunate enough to be selected for a student exchange to Finland and spent 3 months there. Whilst in Finland Kelly worked in various dental hospitals and health centres. She found the work very hands on and patient based and this really helped Kelly develop her clinical skills as a student. When Kelly graduated from Birmingham she was awarded a prize for clinical excellence and voted best in practice by her tutors.

Kelly rejoined the Maltings team soon after her graduation in July 2002 and has been very happy working as a hygienist for many years now.


Mrs Koleh Rees, Dip in Dental Hygiene and Therapy Leeds Eng 2007, GDC126701


Koleh graduated from Leeds Dental Institute in 2007 as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist. Outside of her fulfilling professional life Koleh enjoys the beautiful countryside of South Lincolnshire, cycling and walking with her family. Other interests include; listening to Christian music, singing, playing her guitar, cooking and entertaining.


Lee-Anne Smith, GDC 6178


Lee-Anne qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2002. Originally from the east Midlands she relocated in 2006 to The West Midlands to take up post of specialist paediatric hygienist at Birmingham Children's Hospital. After a returning to general practice Lee-Anne used her experience from the Children's Hospital to specialise in treating adults and children with special needs and dental phobias. She returned to her home town in 2014 and joined the Maltings in December that year. Outside of dentistry She has a keen interest in Photography, travel and cooking.


Senior Nurse

Hayley joined the Practice in June 2001 as a trainee dental nurse.  In May 2003 Hayley gained her National certificate in Dental Nursing.  Since qualifying Hayley has completed the Promotion of Oral Health certificate, Dental Radiography certificate, Dental Sedation with distinction and impression taking.  Hayley was promoted to Clinical Lead in January 2011 which involves organisation of staff, decontamination and clinical governance within the Practice.  Recently Hayley has gained her NVQ in Dental Management and has also been successful in passing her fluoride application.

Louise joined the Practice in 2000 as a young member of the reception team.  She received promotion to Senior Receptionist in 2004 where she quickly became established at her role gaining lots of experience in patient care.

Following the birth of her son in 2011, Louise was promoted to Practice Manager and is embracing the challenges this brings.

Outside of work Louise enjoys spending time with her family and friends and also the occasional shopping trip!
