Foundation Training Practice

Foundation Training Practice

Since 2005 the Maltings Dental Practice has been a Training Practice for Foundation Dentists.

This enables new graduates to work in approved general dental practices. The Practice allows Foundation Dentists to develop their knowledge and skills in a professional and supportive environment.

The Practice has a well-established team, providing up to date equipment and latest technologies. Our patient base is varied and along with our Clinicians and their special interests in many aspects of dentistry (Implants, Cosmetic Treatments, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery and Endodontics) this helps our Foundation Dentists grow and build confidence in providing all areas of dental care.

To guide and support our Foundation Dentists we have highly motivated trainers, Mr Peter Butcher and Mrs Claire Simpson, who have the knowledge, skills and training to enable them to assist, encourage and be at hand to the Foundation Dentists.

Within the practice we aim to provide teaching and professional development to all members of our team encouraging colleagues to embrace lifelong learning.

The Maltings Dental Practice demonstrates effective compliance in Governance and legislation, which are essential in any Practice but also help constitute a framework for the Foundation Dentist to help support their portfolio for key skills. The Practice actively promotes continuing professional development amongst all the team and aims to encourage the Foundation Dentists to be proactive in their learning.

With providing such an array of dental facilities, welcoming team and highly skilled trainers we believe the Maltings to be a high class training practice.

"I began working as a Dentist by carrying out my foundation training at the Maltings Dental Practice from August 2011 to July 2012, after graduating from Sheffield University.

Leaving University can be a daunting task for anybody, but I was fortunate enough to begin my Dental career at the Maltings under the supervision of Mr Jason Wong. Jason is an Implant Dentist who has been a foundation trainer for several years.

From the moment I started I could not have asked for a better practice to train in. The Maltings is equipped with very high quality equipment and materials with no expense spared. Each partner has their own interest in Dentistry, and this helped me to learn and progress in all aspects of the profession. The staff are experienced, friendly and most importantly, welcoming, which made it very easy for me to settle in.

After completing my training year I have now moved back home to Leicester and working part time at the Maltings where I carry out General Dentistry with an interest in Facial Aesthetics."

"As a new graduate, it is essential to be part of a practice that recognizes and provides a supportive and educational environment that forms the foundations of a successful career and the Maltings provides this in abundance. Mr. Wong is a thoroughly knowledgeable and approachable trainer and mentor who has helped me in laying a stable foundation in my career, encouraging me to not only practice dentistry but to enjoy it. The entire team at the Maltings are always happy to help and provide a broad range of treatment modalities that will give any new colleague an insight into some of the latest advances in modern dentistry. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an FD- so much so that I never felt the need to leave- I'm still a part of the team and hope to remain so for the rest of my career!"
